While mature trees can tolerate brief periods of drought, they thrive best with ample water, particularly if not situated near a natural water source.

Ensure good drainage to prevent waterlogging, despite their preference for moisture.

Prune Weeping Willows annually in late winter or early spring while the tree is dormant. Focus on removing dead, diseased, or damaged branches to maintain tree health and structural integrity.

Thin out crossing branches to improve air circulation and light penetration.

You can also selectively prune to enhance the characteristic weeping form and manage overall size, ensuring cuts are clean and made just outside the branch collar.

Weeping Willows are remarkably easy to propagate from hardwood or softwood cuttings. Take 15-30 cm (6-12 inch) cuttings from healthy, pencil-thick branches in late winter or early spring.

Simply place the cut end directly into moist soil or a glass of water; roots typically form quickly.

Once a good root system has developed, transplant the rooted cutting to its desired permanent location, ensuring consistent moisture.

Repotting is generally not applicable for mature Weeping Willows, as they are large trees best grown in the ground.

However, young saplings grown in containers at a nursery may require repotting into a larger container or, ideally, planting directly into their permanent outdoor location.
