Deep watering is more beneficial than frequent shallow watering, encouraging deeper root development. Reduce watering slightly in autumn as growth slows.

Prune after flowering to maintain shape and encourage new blooms for the following year. Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches.

Light pruning can be done in late winter to shape the plant before new growth begins, but major pruning should follow flowering.

Best propagated from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in mid-summer. Dip cuttings in rooting hormone and plant in a well-draining, moist medium. Alternatively, softwood cuttings can be taken in late spring.

Layering is also a successful method for increasing plants.
