Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering is the most common cause of root rot in Dracaena masoniana. Water thoroughly until it drains from the bottom of the pot, then discard any excess water.

Pruning is typically minimal for Dracaena masoniana. Remove any yellowed, brown, or damaged leaves at the base of the plant using clean, sharp shears.

This helps maintain a tidy appearance and prevents the spread of potential diseases. Significant pruning is rarely needed as the plant has a slow, upright growth habit.

Propagation is usually done through division or leaf cuttings. For division, carefully separate offsets (pups) that grow from the base of the mother plant during repotting.

For leaf cuttings, take a healthy leaf, cut it into 5-10 cm sections, and plant them in well-draining soil. Rooting can take several months.

Repot Dracaena masoniana every 2-3 years or when it becomes root-bound. Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one. Use a well-draining potting mix formulated for succulents or cacti.

Repotting is best done in the spring before the active growing season begins.
