Water regularly during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Reduce watering significantly during the dormant winter period to prevent root rot.

Ensure good drainage to avoid waterlogged conditions.

Prune to shape the tree and remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Light pruning can be done after flowering to maintain desired size and form. Heavy pruning is generally not recommended.

Propagate from seeds sown in spring or through semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer. Seeds may require stratification. Cuttings should be treated with rooting hormone and kept in a humid environment.

Young trees benefit from repotting every 1-2 years in spring. Mature trees can be repotted less frequently, perhaps every 3-4 years.

Use a well-draining potting mix and a pot only slightly larger than the current root ball.
