Mahoe prefers consistently moist soil but can tolerate short dry spells. Water deeply when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogging, which can lead to root rot.

Reduce watering frequency during cooler winter months to prevent over-saturation.

Prune Mahoe in late winter or early spring to shape the plant and remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Light pruning can be done throughout the year to maintain desired size and form.

Heavy pruning can be undertaken to rejuvenate older plants.

Mahoe can be propagated from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer or autumn. Cuttings should be treated with rooting hormone and placed in a well-draining propagation mix in a warm, humid environment.

Seed propagation is also possible but can be slower.

Young Mahoe plants benefit from repotting every 1-2 years in spring. Use a well-draining potting mix. Mature plants can be repotted less frequently, perhaps every 3-4 years, or when rootbound.

Ensure the new pot is only slightly larger than the previous one.
