Sundial Lupine prefers consistently moist soil during its active growth period, but avoid waterlogging. Water deeply when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry.

Reduce watering in fall and winter when the plant is dormant to prevent root rot. Ensure good drainage.

Deadheading spent flower stalks can encourage a second, though often smaller, bloom. After the plant has finished flowering and produced seeds, you can cut back the entire plant to the ground to tidy its appearance and prevent self-seeding if unwanted.

Sundial Lupine can be propagated by seed. Scarify the seeds by nicking the seed coat or soaking them in warm water overnight to improve germination rates.

Sow seeds in early spring or fall directly into the garden or into pots.

Lupinus perennis is best established from seed or by transplanting young plants. Mature plants generally do not transplant well due to their deep taproots.
