Peking Willow thrives in consistently moist soil. Water deeply once or twice a week during the growing season, especially in hot, dry weather.

Reduce watering in fall and winter, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid waterlogged conditions, which can lead to root rot.

Prune in late winter or early spring while the plant is dormant. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches. For shape and size control, light pruning can be done after flowering.

Heavy pruning can stimulate vigorous new growth, so prune according to desired form and size, avoiding excessive cuts.

Peking Willows are easily propagated by hardwood cuttings taken in late autumn or winter.

Select healthy, one-year-old stems, cut them into 15-20 cm lengths, and plant them directly into well-drained soil or a potting mix. Ensure at least two nodes are buried. Rooting typically occurs in spring.

Young, actively growing Peking Willows may benefit from repotting every 2-3 years in early spring. Choose a pot only slightly larger than the current one. Ensure good drainage.

For mature trees, repotting is usually only necessary if root-bound, and can be done to refresh the soil and manage size.
