Also known as Purple Broomrape
Yarrow Broomrape (Orobanche purpurea) is a leafless, parasitic herbaceous plant native to Europe and Asia. It lacks chlorophyll and obtains nutrients from host plants.

Thrives in temperate climates, similar to its host plants. Specific temperature needs are met by the host's environment.

As a parasite, it absorbs nutrients from its host and does not require supplemental fertilization.

Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Yarrow Broomrape is a holoparasitic plant and does not require watering as it obtains nutrients and water directly from its host plant. Overwatering can harm the host and indirectly affect the broomrape.
Focus on maintaining optimal conditions for the host species.
Pruning of Yarrow Broomrape is generally not applicable as it is an annual parasite. Once its life cycle is complete and the host plant dies back or is removed, the broomrape will naturally disappear.
No specific pruning actions are required for management.
Yarrow Broomrape is propagated naturally through its seeds, which are dispersed by wind, water, or animals. These seeds require the presence of a specific host plant to germinate and establish a parasitic relationship.
Artificial propagation is not typically practiced or recommended.
Repotting is not applicable to Yarrow Broomrape, as it is a parasitic annual plant.
It establishes itself within the root system of a host plant and does not have its own independent root system that would require transplanting or repotting. Its existence is tied to the host.
