Five-Stamen Tamarisk is highly drought-tolerant once established. Water deeply but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot.

Reduce watering significantly during winter dormancy to prevent waterlogged conditions.

Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. To control size and shape, or to encourage flowering, prune back to a desired structure.

Heavy pruning can rejuvenate older plants.

Propagate by semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer or hardwood cuttings taken in winter. Cuttings should be treated with rooting hormone and planted in well-draining soil. Water regularly until established.

Seed propagation is also possible but may not result in true-to-type plants.

Repotting is rarely necessary for mature plants, as they prefer to be slightly root-bound. Young plants can be repotted into a slightly larger container every 2-3 years, ideally in early spring before active growth.

Use a well-draining potting mix.
