Cnidoscolus aculeatissimus prefers to dry out between waterings. Allow the top 2-3 cm of soil to become dry before watering thoroughly. Reduce watering significantly during cooler, dormant periods to prevent root rot.

Overwatering is a common issue, so err on the side of underwatering.

Pruning is typically done to manage size, shape, or remove dead/damaged stems. Use clean, sharp tools to make cuts just above a leaf node or branch junction.

Pruning can be done anytime, but is best performed in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges to encourage vigorous new shoots.

Propagation is usually achieved through stem cuttings or seeds. For cuttings, take 10-15 cm sections of healthy stems and allow the cut end to callus for a few days before planting in well-draining soil.

Seeds can be sown in well-draining compost and kept warm and moist.

Cnidoscolus aculeatissimus does not require frequent repotting and prefers to be slightly root-bound. Repot only when the plant has outgrown its container, typically every 2-3 years.

Choose a pot only slightly larger than the current one with excellent drainage. Repot in spring.
