Water generously during the growing season, especially in dry spells, to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Reduce watering in late autumn and winter as the plant enters dormancy.

Cut back dead or spent flower stems to maintain a tidy appearance and encourage further blooming. In late autumn, after the foliage has yellowed or died back, trim the old stems to about 10-15 cm above the ground.

Divide overcrowded clumps of corms in spring or autumn. Carefully separate the smaller cormlets from the parent corms. Replant them immediately in well-drained soil, planting them about 5-10 cm deep.

Repot container-grown Montbretia every 2-3 years in spring to refresh the soil and prevent overcrowding. Use a good quality, well-draining potting mix. Ensure the new pot is slightly larger than the previous one.
