Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Water regularly, allowing the top 2-3 cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot. Reduce watering frequency during winter months when the plant's growth slows down.
Ensure good drainage in the pot.
Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches to maintain shape and improve air circulation. Light pruning can encourage bushier growth.
Avoid heavy pruning as it can stress the plant.
Easily propagated from seed, which should be sown fresh. Cuttings can also be taken from semi-hardwood in summer. Ensure cuttings have a heel and are treated with rooting hormone for best results.
Maintain high humidity and warmth for successful rooting.
Repot young plants annually in spring, and mature plants every 2-3 years. Choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one and use a well-draining potting mix.
Repotting provides fresh nutrients and prevents the plant from becoming root-bound.
