Water moderately during the establishment period. Once established, Eremophila alternifolia is highly drought-tolerant and requires infrequent watering.

Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings to prevent root rot, especially in its native arid or semi-arid climate.

Prune to maintain shape and size, and to encourage bushier growth. Pruning can be done after flowering or in late winter. Remove dead or crossing branches.

Heavy pruning can be undertaken if the plant becomes leggy, but avoid cutting back into old, bare wood.

Propagate from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in late spring or early summer. Cuttings should be treated with a rooting hormone and placed in a well-draining propagation mix.

Keep consistently moist and provide bottom heat for best results. Seed propagation is also possible.

Repot infrequently, as Eremophila alternifolia prefers to be slightly pot-bound and dislikes root disturbance. If repotting is necessary, do so in spring, using a well-draining potting mix.

Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one.
