Water Sparaxis bulbifera consistently during its active growing season, typically spring and autumn, keeping the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged.

Reduce watering significantly as the foliage begins to yellow and die back in late spring or early summer. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings during its dormant period.

Remove spent flower spikes as they fade to encourage further blooming and prevent the plant from expending energy on seed production.

Once the foliage has naturally yellowed and died back completely after flowering, it can be trimmed away. This tidying up prevents disease and signals the end of the growing season.

Sparaxis bulbifera is best propagated by corms. After the foliage has died back, carefully lift the corms from the soil. Separate any offsets (smaller corms) that have formed.

Replant the corms in autumn, spacing them about 5-10 cm apart, or store them in a cool, dry place until planting time.

Repotting is generally not required annually for corms. If planted in containers, they can be left undisturbed for several years, as they tend to naturalize.

If the clump becomes overcrowded or the pot is outgrown, repot in autumn after lifting and separating the corms, using well-draining potting mix.
