Gaillardia pulchella prefers moderate watering. Allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot, especially in poorly draining soils.

Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry. Reduce watering in winter when the plant is dormant.

Deadheading spent flowers regularly encourages continuous blooming and maintains a tidy appearance.

At the end of the growing season, cut back the plants to about 15-20 cm above the ground to promote a more compact growth in the following year. Remove any dead or diseased stems promptly.

Gaillardia pulchella can be easily propagated from seeds sown directly outdoors in spring after the last frost, or started indoors 6-8 weeks prior. It also readily self-seeds.

Division of established clumps in spring is another effective method to propagate new plants.

Gaillardia pulchella generally thrives in well-draining soil and does not require frequent repotting.

If grown in containers, repot every 2-3 years in early spring into a slightly larger pot with fresh, well-draining potting mix. Ensure the new pot has adequate drainage holes.
