Libocedrus yateensis prefers consistently moist soil, especially when young. Water deeply when the top 2-3 cm of soil begins to dry out. Avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot.

Reduce watering slightly during winter dormancy, but do not let the soil become completely dry.

Pruning is generally minimal and should be done to remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Light shaping can be undertaken in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.

Avoid heavy pruning, as it can stress the tree and affect its natural form.

Propagation is best achieved through semi-hardwood cuttings taken in late summer or early autumn. Use a rooting hormone and provide bottom heat and high humidity to encourage root development.

Seed propagation is also possible but can be slow and variable.

Young plants may benefit from repotting every 2-3 years into a slightly larger container. Mature trees are best left undisturbed. Repot in early spring before new growth emerges.

Use a well-draining potting mix, ideally slightly acidic.
