Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Water regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, especially during the growing season. Reduce watering in winter, allowing the top layer of soil to dry out slightly between waterings.
Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
Prune to maintain shape and size, and to remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Light pruning can be done in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Avoid heavy pruning, as it can stress the plant.
Propagate from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer or by seeds sown in spring. Seeds may require stratification.
Cuttings should be treated with rooting hormone and placed in a well-draining medium in a warm, humid environment.
Repot young plants annually in spring, and mature plants every 2-3 years as needed. Choose a pot one size larger with good drainage holes. Use a well-draining, peat-based potting mix to ensure healthy root development.
