Water thoroughly when the soil is completely dry, typically every 2-4 weeks during the growing season. Reduce watering significantly in winter, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings to prevent root rot.

Overwatering is the most common cause of problems.

Pruning is generally not required for aesthetic reasons, as Arrojadoa penicillata naturally forms a columnar shape.

If necessary, remove damaged or diseased stems close to the base using a clean, sharp knife or pruning shears. Sterilize tools between cuts.

Propagate from stem cuttings taken during the spring or summer. Allow cuttings to callus for a few days to a week before planting in a well-draining cactus mix.

Roots typically form within a few weeks in warm, bright conditions.

Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant outgrows its container. Use a well-draining cactus or succulent potting mix. Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one.

Repot in spring before active growth begins.
