Prune after flowering to shape the plant and encourage bushier growth. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Heavy pruning can be done in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.

Pinch back new shoots to promote more bracts.

Propagate Peruvian bougainvillea from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer. Select healthy stems, cut them into 10-15 cm lengths, and dip the base in rooting hormone.

Plant in a well-draining propagation mix and keep moist and warm.

Repot young plants annually in spring. Mature plants can be repotted every 2-3 years or when root-bound. Use a well-draining potting mix. Choose a pot only slightly larger than the current one.
