Water moderately during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Reduce watering significantly in autumn and winter, providing only enough to prevent the soil from becoming bone dry.

Overwatering can lead to root rot, especially in poorly drained soils.

Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth. Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Hard pruning is generally not recommended, as it can stress the plant.

Early spring pruning before new growth begins can also be done to shape the plant.

Propagate from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer. Use a rooting hormone and plant in a well-draining potting mix. Keep cuttings moist and in a warm, humid environment until roots form.

Alternatively, seeds can be sown in spring, but germination may be erratic.

Repot young plants every two years in spring to refresh the soil. Mature plants are often best left undisturbed as they prefer to be slightly pot-bound. Use a well-draining, gritty compost mix.

Ensure the new pot has adequate drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.
