Salsify requires consistent moisture, especially during dry spells, to ensure good root development. Water deeply once or twice a week, allowing the top few centimeters of soil to dry slightly between waterings.

Pruning is generally not required for salsify grown for its roots. However, if you wish to harvest the edible flower stalks, they should be cut before the flowers fully open.
