Water moderately during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering significantly in late summer and autumn as the plant enters dormancy.

Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot, especially in containers.

Remove spent flower spikes as they fade to prevent seed formation and direct energy back into the corm. After the foliage has naturally yellowed and died back, trim it neatly to the base of the plant.

Propagation is primarily by offsets (corms) which can be carefully separated from the parent corm during repotting in late autumn or early spring. Plant the offsets at a depth of about 5 cm in well-draining soil.
